Outer Explorations is the result of two inspirations - exploring psychedelic breaks and the idea of creating an hour's worth of music in a single project. Hence there's an overarching sound palette that defines the sound of the entire album. It is also absolutely seamless. I have further explored this idea in a project that came later in chronology but was released earlier - Song of the Warrior Poet (AKA 5/80 of Five by Eighty).

The space theme was selected as I was finalising the mix master for release. I only had the project name and knew that I had to break it up in segments for the ease of the listener. So the idea of space exploration resonated with me. The sound also has a somewhat retro feel, which immediately made me think of favourite space-themed stories such as Cowboy Bebop. So I conceived of a journey that explores the solar system and then goes beyond, essentially a cosmic leaving of home and thus a continuation of the previous release - Home Leaving.
